With the recent announcement of our upcoming season it is now time for us to put out a call for directors. If you are interested in submitting your name for consideration, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Please note we participate in the ACTCO Festival each year. Our first 2 show are submitted for consideration and receive a professional adjudication. If you do not wish to direct an adjudicated show please consider the third show in our season.

To be considered you must let us know which show or shows you are interested in directing, and then present your vision for the show. Presentations should be 15 min in length. We have a standard form you can use to guide your presentation however you can add to it as well - help us understand 'your show'.
You should also let us know if you have arranged for specific crew positions (ie. Producer, Stage Manager, Set design etc...) or indicate you would need support in pulling in those roles. You should demonstrate a clear understanding of the script, your set, and any unique technical, prop, rehearsal, or design needs for the show you want to direct. If selected we would expect you to honour the vision and details you described in your presentation. At MPTG our member experience is as important as the quality of our productions. We have dedicated volunteers, new and long-standing, who continue to support us because we strive to make this a fun and inclusive engagement for everyone. As a Director, you would be expected to create a similar environment and we would like to understand this as part of your presentation.

Milton Players will not consider someone with zero directing experience unless you have confirmed a mentor to support you during the show. That mentor must be a director known to us.

If you have Directing experience but have not directed with us before we will require references both to the quality of your work but also to the experience people had throughout the process.
Director presentations are on Monday April 23 with time slots starting at 730pm . Please indicate your interest asap. We will send you the information form and can answer any questions you might have about the group.

SEASON DETAILS The Game's Afoot (aka Holmes for the Holidays) - Ken Ludwig. (3M 5F) - running Oct 26 - Nov 3, 2018

Winner of 2012 Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allen Poe Award, Best Play

It is December 1936, and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death , the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It is then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.

Ken Ludwig is also the writer of Moon Over Buffalo, enjoyed by audiences in Milton in our 2015-2016 season!

Five Alarm - Kristen Da Silva (2M 3F)- running Feb 1 - Feb 9, 2019

The Killaloe fairground is home to the annual Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook Off, where hopefuls from all over the small town come each year to compete for the prestige, the trophy and the cash prize. The most determined of these is Ava Rose. She has tried (and failed) to win in honour of her father's memory for sixteen years. Worse, her bitter rival has bested her five times in a row. With a quirky new assistant - who may or may not know a single thing about cooking - and an iron will, Ava returns to battle for a seventeenth time. If she can piece together her father's missing Five Alarm Chili recipe and keep her assistant from maiming herself, she is sure to finally take home the trophy.

Kristen Da Silva is also the writer of last season's Gibson and Sons. An audience favourite we are still hearing about to this day!

Red Velvet Cake War - Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, Jamie Wooten (3M 7W) - running May 3 - May 11, 2019

In this riotously funny Southern-fried comedy, the three Verdeen cousins—Gaynelle, Peaches, and Jimmie Wyvette—could not have picked a worse time to throw their family reunion. Their outrageous antics have delighted local gossips in the small town of Sweetgum (just down the road from Fayro) and the eyes of Texas are upon them, as their self-righteous Aunt LaMerle is quick to point out. Having “accidentally” crashed her minivan through the bedroom wall of her husband’s girlfriend’s doublewide, Gaynelle is one frazzled nerve away from a spectacular meltdown. Peaches, a saucy firebrand and the number one mortuarial cosmetologist in the tri-county area, is struggling to decide if it’s time to have her long-absent trucker husband declared dead. And Jimmie Wyvette, the rough-around-the-edges store manager of Whatley’s Western Wear, is resorting to extreme measures to outmaneuver a priss-pot neighbor for the affections of Sweetgum’s newest widower. But the cousins can’t back out of the reunion now. It’s on, Gaynelle’s hosting it, and Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette have decided that its success is the perfect way to prove Gaynelle’s sanity to a skeptical court-appointed psychologist. Unfortunately, they face an uphill battle as a parade of wildly eccentric Verdeens gathers on the hottest day of July, smack-dab in the middle of Texas tornado season. Things spin hilariously out of control when a neighbor’s pet devours everything edible, a one-eyed suitor shows up to declare his love, and a jaw-dropping high-stakes wager is made on who bakes the best red velvet cake. As this fast-paced romp barrels toward its uproarious climax, you’ll wish your own family reunions were this much fun!
